Every woman has at some point experienced the frustration of not being able to find the right outfit to flatter their body. People are so often drawn to styles that may be stylish, but just don’t work with their shape, N.Y. Stylist and fashion consultant, Christina Kelly, shares winter trends to highlight all body types.

  1. For the hourglass figure Winter of 2017 has a lot in store for the hourglass figure. The season’s popular wrap dresses accentuate nipped in waists and compliment curves. Belted options, such as belted sweaters or jackets partnered with wide-leg pants are also a knock-out look for curvy shapes. Also try highwaisted skirts and pants, or pencil skirts with fitted sweaters.
  1. For the pear shaped figure For pear shapes, focus attention upwards with high-necked 2017 styles, such as Victorian collars, turtlenecks, or embellished trim. Keep warm in three-quarter length outerwear pieces in styles such as the ever popular trench coat, shearling styles, or belted leather. Balance pear shaped figures with off the shoulder and cold shoulder sweaters and dresses.
  1. For the apple shaped figure Apple shaped women can take advantage of the year’s highly popularized loose and flowing styles to hide mid-rift problem areas. Straight line graphic dresses, oversized ski sweaters, capes, and flowing velvet dresses and two-pieces are the perfect matches for apple shapes. Show off legs by partnering a short skirt or midi-skirt with tights, boots, and a loose flowing blouse or oversized sweater.
  1. For the rectangle shaped figure The pantsuit is once again in high demand and rectangle shaped women can pull off pant-suits beautifully. The latest in pantsuits partners Victorian lace, pussy-bow blouses, and traditional button ups in bold colors, with styles that vary from sleek pinstripe to boxy solids, boldly patterned coordinates and lush velvets. Other fabulous trends for rectangle shapes, include flowing feminine blouses in florals or solids, cinch-waisted skirts, and belted sweater-dresses. Straight shapes can add dimension with bold patterns combined with solids, and layering fitted clothing.
